FUNDING
This capacity building project funded by the HCR has been implemented by TGH in Iraq since 2017 in Kurdistan (KR-I), and since January 2019 in the Government of Iraq (GoI), and aims to address the issue of rising child protection needs in Iraq. Indeed, displacement of populations from Syria and Iraq to Kurdistan and Central/South Governorates of Iraq, in addition to the COVID-19 outbreak, have put pressure on national institutions to provide quality services.

Thanks to this project, TGH is building the capacities of the local child protection actors so that they can answer the child protection concerns to the best of their abilities. The actions of the local actors are thus impacting the Iraqi population who benefits from efficient child protection services. The capacity building of the local child protection actors is implemented by TGH through several activities such as trainings and on-the-job coaching of social workers. Training sessions of trainers are also implemented so that the capacity building is long term and efficient. Case management systems are also strengthened. At the end of this project, TGH aims to withdraw itself, leaving a functional and autonomous child protection system.
