Thanks to the support of SIDA, which funded the construction of a new pumping station with a capacity of 200 m³/h and a 500 m³ storage station, 3 districts - about 12,000 people - could be connected to the network. This funding will also allow the rehabilitation of 41 latrines in schools and hospitals, and the construction of 25 new latrines in public places.
For its part, Oxfam HK funded the connection of another district to the network (about 3,000 additional beneficiaries), the construction of 13 public latrines, 50 school latrines, a bathroom, and the improvement of two existing bathrooms.
These actions are complemented by hygiene promotion sessions and awareness-raising media for the population, as well as training sessions in management of the water system and sanitary structures for the members of water supply and sanitation services of the city.
Finally, the anti-epidemiological Center ensuring health monitoring at county level will see its capacity for water analysis increased (drinking water and waste water), and will provide expertise for the sustainable management of the established infrastructures.
