The villages suffered tremendous destructions due to the conflict and education facilities are not spared, a majority of classrooms being out of service. These damaged schools are unsafe for children and staff, discouraging returns to school. Furthermore, due to COVID-19 measures and the closure of education facilities and/or reduction of learning hours, the number of Out Of School Children (OOSC) and children at risk of dropping out tends to increase.
To ensure that children of targeted localities benefit from safe, dignified and quality learning environments, TGH implements several activities: rehabilitation of schools, including water and sanitation facilities with a gender sensitive and disability sensitive approach; supply of school furniture and school supplies kits, etc.
TGH provides for out-of-school children (OOSC) and children at risk of dropping out through the provision of Non Formal Education (NFE), so they can progressively reintegrate the classic formal educational system. TGH also offers access to school-based psychological support programs to reinforce the emotional and social well-being of the children.
The teaching staff and education personnel also benefit from the project with a capacity development component through trainings of a large range of education related topics.
