The proposed response is based on TGH's 5 years of experience in implementing multi-sectoral projects and nearly 30 years of experience in responding to emergencies worldwide. The target locations have been selected in consultation with various local partners.
Since the earthquake, TGH has carried out assessments in collective centres and localities in Hama and Aleppo. TGH is working in 7 locations (3 in Aleppo and 4 in Hama): Aleppo (in collective centres and schools as well as in the Salah ad-Deen neighbourhood), Hayyan and eastern rural Aleppo (Um Krouh), Al-Smakh, Muhradah, Tresimeh, Kafr Hud in Hama governorate.
The final outcome of the proposed operation is to improve access to basic WASH services for earthquake-affected people in Hama and Aleppo governorates, while preventing WASH-related diseases in Hama and Aleppo governorates through the rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation systems, training of local water authorities, hygiene promotion activities and distribution of hygiene kits.
