During this third phase, TGH will continue its trucking activities in areas of the Al Tawahi, Al Maalla and Al Bureiqah districts where the need remains paramount, while continuing to adjust and then limit the quantities delivered. In the Al Tawahi district, following the example of the Phase 2 activities, work will then be carried out to rehabilitate and reinforce the water network in the Al Fateh neighbourhood and its suburbs, gradually replacing the emergency water supply with a more sustainable solution for access to water in the homes of the targeted communities. The rehabilitation of the network in this district was one of the priorities identified by LWSCA, our implementing partner for the entire programme and for this new phase. At the same time, hygiene awareness sessions will be held in a number of schools in the affected districts.
In this new phase, activities previously limited to water supply and sanitation will be extended in parallel to the wastewater treatment sector around one of the city's oldest and busiest public hospitals, itself located in the heart of a district, Khor Maksar, that is particularly affected by water pollution problems. TGH will carry out the work to rehabilitate the sewerage network, which for years has been a source of health hazards both inside the hospital and in the surrounding area.
